bill is an incredibly positive old timer who runs a clapboard mill in sedgwick. he makes 8 foot radially sawn clapboards out of white pine like they used to. these kind of clapboards last longer than todays conventional flat sawn clapboards because their grain pattern allows them to soak up more finish and be more breathable. he runs his mill off the grid with an old 2 cylinder john deer engine with belts and pulleys running throughout. bill has cancer but you would never know it from his upbeat attitude. he just keeps plugging away, doing good work and inspiring us all. sedgwick, maine.
